Kairos Blanket Exercise - In Person
"Honoring the past, building the future" "Uncovering the hidden history of colonization"
Service Description
"Moon Tide Reconciliation is proud to offer the Kairos Blanket Exercise, an interactive learning experience that takes participants on a journey through the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Through partnership with Kairos Canada, we are committed to promoting understanding and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The in-person Kairos Blanket Exercise begins with an opening song or prayer from an Indigenous elder, helping to set the tone and provide a sense of grounding and respect for the history and traditions being shared. Participants stand on blankets that represent the land and follow along with a facilitator as they learn about different events and periods in Indigenous history. They may be asked to stand on or move to different parts of the blanket to represent different things, such as the arrival of European settlers or the signing of treaties. The exercise is designed to be interactive and engaging, and participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts and feelings as they learn. It is an impactful and transformative experience that helps participants understand the history and ongoing struggles of Indigenous peoples in Canada, and how they can work towards reconciliation." *OFFERED ONLY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE, THANK YOU
